The Need Satisfies

Glory.

Glory.

Glory!

Heaven is declaring God’s glory; the sky is proclaiming his handiwork. One day gushes the news to the next, and one night informs another what needs to be know.

How much more will He whisper what you need to know.

Some days – some weeks – are heavy with processing. Burdened with prayers seeking guidance and direction. We desperately want that gushing. Gushing of knowledge so that things make sense.

Except they often won’t make sense, even with a little extra knowledge.

All the information in the universe doesn’t adequately process what this pandemic has meant and done in our lives. Our minds are meant to get all the answers this side of heaven. We weren’t designed that way. However, we are offered a few steps that bring us into peace within the storm. Peace within the anxiety.

1. Declare God’s glory (Ps 19:1)

2. Submit to God (James 4:7)

3. Come near to God (James 4:8)

4. Cry out (James 4:9)

5. Humble yourselves before the Lord (James 4:10)

All these things soften your heart and bring you into alignment. You may not learn all the ‘things’ you want to know. But Father God, your good faithful Father, will tell you the things you need to know. And when you have submitted to Him, drawn near and are humble before Him….the need satisfies. Deeply. Because the wants fade out.

Let’s not overcomplicate it, shall we?

Sit. Be still.

Deep breath.

Jesus. Jesus we need you. Over all else,

under and in all things. We need you. We ask you, Father God, to forgive us for striving to reach peace by means of knowledge, for seeking our own ways. Help us this week to draw every closer to you. In our beautiful moments. In our weak moments. In our hustle, help us pause. Help us to sit. To sit and be still. To know, that you are our God. Process out this season with us, Lord, but may our hearts focus on You as the anchor. For You are glorious and we will shout it with the shooting stars and the morning sun! And that is the knowledge that rolls from day to day, it never changes. You never change. And we are eternally grateful. We thank you, Father, for all You have created in us and before us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
